Brenden Mulligan of ArtistData published an interesting post on Friday in response to iLike’s announcement of custom iPhone app creation tools for artists (among other artist features) which I covered here. The post led to my serendipitous discovery of an alternative and dedicated solution for iPhone app creation called MobileRoadie which, according to Brenden, is more powerful than iLike’s offering. Brenden comments on the role of apps in the music eco-system and how, in terms of the fan experience, they do not fair up to the one-stop web experience that networks such as Facebook and MySpace currently provide.
