What is The Lyric Writer Awards?
The Lyric Writer Awards is a contest for artists who write words for music.
What are the submission requirements?
Anyone with an original lyric may enter the contest. Please review the Rules for more guidance.
How is the Lyric Writer Awards different from other contests?
The Lyric Writer Awards is geared at providing publishing opportunities for lyricists. Winning submissions are placed with publishing companies and set to music by songwriters on their staff.
What do I get if I win?
If you win, We Are Listening will place your lyrics with publishing companies seeking to set your words to music and offer you a publishing deal for the commercial exploitation of your work.
What if I am already signed?
If you have other contractual obligations, we will work with your business partners to add value to your existing relationship.
What if my lyrics are already set to music and recorded?
If your lyrics are already set to music and recorded, We Are Listening will offer both the text and audio versions of your work to our publishing partners.
Will the copyrights to my lyrics be protected?
We Are Listening will uphold all formal and informal contact to stringent moral and legal privacy measures,
will not seek ownership of the copyright of any of the submissions, and all economic and moral rights in them

How do I take part?
You can enter your lyrics by clicking on Submit.
Can the lyrics be in any language?
No! Your Lyrics must be in English.
When is the submission deadline?
The deadline is the 31st March 2008.
When will the results be announced?
The results will be announced within one month of the deadline.
Can I submit the same song more than once?
Yes. It is our policy to evaluate every entry equally and
without prejudice. Therefore, some people feel that they can
improve their chances of winning by having the judges hear
their song more than once.
How much is the submission fee?
The submission fee is £10.
Who reviews the lyrics and decides who wins?
We have a panel of industry professionals with specific expertise in lyric writing and music publishing. Click on Judges for more details.
If I win, how will I know?
Winners will be contacted directly by We Are Listening by phone or email.
What's expected of me?
We expect you to undertake and promise that your submission is an own, original work or authorised by the copyright owner.
