June 2007

Chris Volpe returned to a world of opportunity in the US in late September 2006 after spending a weekend in the studio with We Are Listening in London. His debut album release, "Refugee Blues", featuring his winning submission in The Singer/Songwriter Awards, "Shoes", was licensed to MTV Real World, Real World Extreme, Road Rules, and the highly rated Bad Girls Club on Oxygen.

He also signed an exclusive, "non-traditional retailer" distribution agreement with New Mexico-based company, Instone Music, with the aim to place his record in 15,000 independent coffee shops in the US, Canada and Mexico.

This month, PBS selected four songs from the album for the 2007 edition of Roadtrip Nation.

Nafsica

Nafsica
Runner Up in The Singer/Songwriter Awards & NMVA
March 2007

Nafsica, the very gorgeous, young and charismatic Greek talent, finally secured representation with New York management firm, Stars Cast, after a year of talks. We Are Listening introduced Nafsica to Stars Cast’ President, Efi Rodik, last year after she made the top 50 artists of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards. Efi has arranged for Nafsica to meet with A-list producers, record labels, publishers, publicists, and one of the top modeling agencies in New York this month.

"I am delighted to represent such incredible talent and appreciate all that We Are Listening has invested into Nafsica's career", Efi wrote to us adding, " ..this young artist is the real deal! Her songwriting skills combined with such powerful vocals are rare for a 16 y/o girl. Blessed with captivating personality and positive energy, Nafsica is bound for success and I will be sure to keep you up to date on our progress."

Nafsica was also selected by We Are Listening for the Berklee College of Music Songwriting Workshop taking place in August this summer.

Gordie Sampson

Gordie Sampson
Runner Up of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 1)
February 2007

Gordie Sampson, Runner Up of Round 1 of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards, has much to celebrate! He picked-up a Grammy Award for Best Country Song at the 49th Annual Grammy Ceremonies for his six week US No. 1 single, "Jesus, Take The Wheel", also earning ASCAP and NSAI Song of the Year and ACM Single of the Year. Until this recent, phenomenal success with Carrie Underwood, Sampson was perhaps most recognised internationally for the writing of "Paris", recorded by Faith Hill. However, the singer/songwriter's other credits, including the likes of LeeAnn Rimes, Jack Ingram and Keith Urban, predominantly renowned in the US, already make for an exceptional success story... of which we look forward to hearing more!

Surely a winning combination, Gordie, who entered the song "Cloudgazing" in The Singer/Songwriter Awards, will be teaming up with fellow We Are Listening artist, Michael Logen, for a co-writing session this year.

Jag Star

December 2006

Jag Star announced that they will be included in the soundtrack to MTV's "The Hills" as the only independent act on the recording. The star-studded soundtrack (Epic Records), including Pink, Nelly Furtado, Arctic Monkeys, Natasha Bedingfield and Good Charlotte, is scheduled for release in February 2007.

Contributing to their increasing public profile, the group's front lady, Sarah Lewis, was selected to be the new "Fresh Face" girl and ambassador for cosmetics company, Wet 'n Wild, in 2007. She will be featured in a nationwide advertising campaign in the US .

The group is currently on tour promoting their brand new CD, "The Best Impression of Sanity", which features their winning submission, "Does Anybody Know".

Michael Logen

Winner of The 2005 Singer/Songwriter Awards
November 2006

After winning The 2005 Singer/Songwriter Awards, Michael Logen signed with Combustion Music Nashville/Windswept Music LA and began working on his new album with producer Joe West (Justin Timberlake, Jewel, Shakira). In July 2006, he left Nashville briefly for New York to play with Tony Moore ("I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight") and Ritchie Cannatta (Billy Joel's sax player) to later return home for a string of co-writing sessions with The Warren Bros., Kyle Cook (Matchbox Twenty) and Gordie Sampson (six weeks at No.1 with "Jesus, Take The Wheel"). We Are Listening's US radio promotion partner, Tinderbox Music, is now working with Logen to promote his new album and single - also his winning submission - "Mystery". Incidentally, We Are Listening works with the same studio musicians as Tony Moore recorded with on his last release, "Perfect & Beautiful". Logen is making a big splash in the US songwriting circles at the moment and we anticipate a big commercial success very soon!
