Laurell entered and won The Singer/Songwriter Awards with her song, "Fears Aside", back in 2007. It took almost three years to get her an awesome sync placement as part of her song contest prize package... but it was well worth the wait! Thanks to Jon Delange, We Are Listening's television licensing mojo maker, Laurell landed a HUGE placement in the season finale of The Real World: New Orleans. The show aired on the 15th September with Laurell's "In The Air", vocals up, with ID. Success!
Winner of The 2010 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 3)
September 2010
In 2007, Alexandria Maillot submitted a co-write between her sister, Amanda Maillot, and producer, Joby Baker, titled "Revolution" into We Are Listening's The Singer/Songwriter Awards. Though the song did not win, it made a considerable impact on our judges, Thomas Scherer in particular, and was awarded as one of only four finalists for the contest. Thomas, Managing Director of Parasongs in Germany at the time, and a valued We Are Listening panelist to date, secured the publishing rights for "Revolution" after Lior Shamir, We Are Listening's Founder, made an introduction to Alexandria. Thomas pitched the song to Universal Europe for the Swiss artist, Stefanie Heinzmann, and it was released as the third single from her Platinum certified debut, "Masterplan", in 2008. The song reached 47 on the German music charts and included in a number of compilations released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The video for "Revolution" has been viewed more than 900,000 times to date and featured on Perez Hilton’s blog. In 2010, Alexandria tried her luck again with We Are Listening and was selected as the winner of The Singer/Songwriter Awards with "All We Need".
Finalist in The 2008 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 6)
April 2010
Up and coming Country sensation and professional Nashville songwriter, Sean Patrick McGraw, showed up on We Are Listening's radar in 2008 with a song contest entry that floored our judges. Song contest panelist and veteran song placement professional, Beth Wernick, requested an introduction which, as of last week, resulted in a placement of his song, "A Drink With Hank", on the new HBO series "True Blood". The show airs on June 13th and "A Drink With Hank" will be heard on June 20th. To top it all, Sean Patrick McGraw will be opening for Toby Keith on a number of his summer concert dates this year. Beth Wernick is the founder of Imaginary Friends Music Partners, an indie song catalog for television and film, and has been serving on We Are Listening's song contest panel since 2006.
Winner of the 2008 New Music Video Awards (Round 3)
December 2009
Winning We Are Listening's New Music Video Award in November 2008 for their "Blame" video was the launch pad for further success for the UK electronic pop band, Temposhark. "Blame" was co-written with legendary producer Youth, from Killing Joke, and with an epic pop chorus, it's one of the highlights on Temposhark's critically acclaimed debut album "The Invisible Line". The video went on to win the SXSW Click Music Video Award and was screened at SXSW in 2009 as well as screenings at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Hollywood Music Awards, and San Francisco International Film Festival. The appeal of Temposhark's songwriting has resulted in various licensing deals in the US including use on MTV's Paris Hilton's "My New BFF", "Keeping Up with the Kardashians", "The Real World" and "Styl'd".
Winner of Breaking the Band 3
Hello Operator
May 2009
Breaking the Band 3 from We Are Listening bolstered the unquestionable radio potential of one of Canada’s finest independent acts: Hello Operator. Already a disruptive force in and out of the US music market, the rock à la mode group won Breaking the Band and reaped the ‘career-breaking’ rewards. After a three month engagement with Tinderbox Music courtesy of We Are Listening, Hello Operator became the only self-released act breaking into CMJ's Top 100, pilfering airplay from heavy hitters such as Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon and Keane. That, coupled with six network television licenses, secured Hello Operator’s pole position on the indie circuit. Songs from the group’s most recent EP, “The Breaks”, were licensed for use on MTV’s “The City”, “The Real World”, and “Parental Control”, E!TV's “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, Oxygen’s “Bad Girls Club”, and Lifetime Television’s “Models of the Runway”.
Winner of The 2008 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 5)
Jesse Terry
March 2009
After winning The Singer/Songwriter Awards in the last quarter of 2008, Jesse Terry opted to work with We Are Listening’s accredited music supervisor and founder of Tinderbox Music, Jon Delange, as his prize package. With only ten copies of Jesse’s latest release, “The Runner”, Jon secured no less than nine network-sized television licenses on Jesse’s behalf – an extraordinary feat! Jesse's record was licensed for use by MTV (Road Rules, The Real World, Road Rules Challenge, The Hills, The City, Human Giant, My Super Sweet Sixteen, Teen Cribs, Parental Control); E Network (Keeping Up With the Kardashians); and Oxygen Network (Bad Girls Club). The relative ease in which Jon licensed “The Runner” is a reflection of Jesse’s adaptive songwriting style and compatibility with today’s leading pop-culture entertainment.

This month, PBS selected four songs from the album for the 2007 edition of Roadtrip Nation.
Runner Up in The Singer/Songwriter Awards & NMVA
March 2007
Nafsica, the very gorgeous, young and charismatic Greek talent, finally secured representation with New York management firm, Stars Cast, after a year of talks. We Are Listening introduced Nafsica to Stars Cast’ President, Efi Rodik, last year after she made the top 50 artists of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards. Efi has arranged for Nafsica to meet with A-list producers, record labels, publishers, publicists, and one of the top modeling agencies in New York this month. "I am delighted to represent such incredible talent and appreciate all that We Are Listening has invested into Nafsica's career", Efi wrote to us adding, " ..this young artist is the real deal! Her songwriting skills combined with such powerful vocals are rare for a 16 y/o girl. Blessed with captivating personality and positive energy, Nafsica is bound for success and I will be sure to keep you up to date on our progress." Nafsica was also selected by We Are Listening for the Berklee College of Music Songwriting Workshop taking place in August this summer.
Runner Up of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 1)
Gordie Sampson
February 2007
Gordie Sampson, Runner Up of Round 1 of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards, has much to celebrate! He picked-up a Grammy Award for Best Country Song at the 49th Annual Grammy Ceremonies for his six week US No. 1 single, "Jesus, Take The Wheel", also earning ASCAP and NSAI Song of the Year and ACM Single of the Year. Until this recent, phenomenal success with Carrie Underwood, Sampson was perhaps most recognised internationally for the writing of "Paris", recorded by Faith Hill. However, the singer/songwriter's other credits, including the likes of LeeAnn Rimes, Jack Ingram and Keith Urban, predominantly renowned in the US, already make for an exceptional success story... of which we look forward to hearing more! Surely a winning combination, Gordie, who entered the song "Cloudgazing" in The Singer/Songwriter Awards, will be teaming up with fellow We Are Listening artist, Michael Logen, for a co-writing session this year.
Winner of The 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards (Round 1)

The star-studded soundtrack (Epic Records), including Pink, Nelly Furtado, Arctic Monkeys, Natasha Bedingfield and Good Charlotte, is scheduled for release in February 2007. Contributing to their increasing public profile, the group's front lady, Sarah Lewis, was selected to be the new "Fresh Face" girl and ambassador for cosmetics company, Wet 'n Wild, in 2007. She will be featured in a nationwide advertising campaign in the US . The group is currently on tour promoting their brand new CD, "The Best Impression of Sanity", which features their winning submission, "Does Anybody Know".

Michael Logen
November 2006
After winning The 2005 Singer/Songwriter Awards, Michael Logen signed with Combustion Music Nashville/Windswept Music LA and began working on his new album with producer Joe West (Justin Timberlake, Jewel, Shakira). In July 2006, he left Nashville briefly for New York to play with Tony Moore ("I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight") and Ritchie Cannatta (Billy Joel's sax player) to later return home for a string of co-writing sessions with The Warren Bros., Kyle Cook (Matchbox Twenty) and Gordie Sampson (six weeks at No.1 with "Jesus, Take The Wheel"). We Are Listening's US radio promotion partner, Tinderbox Music, is now working with Logen to promote his new album and single - also his winning submission - "Mystery". Incidentally, We Are Listening works with the same studio musicians as Tony Moore recorded with on his last release, "Perfect & Beautiful". Logen is making a big splash in the US songwriting circles at the moment and we anticipate a big commercial success very soon!
